Welcome to the Outpost. Today I’m taking a look at a G.I. Joe character’s figure that is under appreciated in my opinion. Scarlett was an original 13 and the first female on the Joe team. At the time this was an interesting move having a female character in a toy line aimed at young boys. The character and original figure worked well and Scarlett was an instant fan favorite. Apparently someone up stairs didn’t get the memo and it would take 11 years for Scarlett to get a v2. A cool figure but I think she should have at least gotten the version from the DIC series where she had a pink jumpsuit with yellow top and accessories.

This was a cool look especially for the times, but I guess they figured a pink figure wouldn’t sell. It goes deeper than that though, Scarlett does not have a 12 inch figure. There were a number of cool 12 inch ARAH figures throughout the early 2000’s and Scarlett did not make the cut. I did a custom one for my collection and I think she looks pretty good. Scarlett who was also a main character in the Sigma 6 series once again got stiffed and did not get a figure. The 2000’s, modern 25th style along with the live action movies finally brought several versions of Scarlett, but the Classified version does not resemble her original outfit that made her famous and worked for 40 years. Why change it up now? Aye yi yi, at least the Reaction, 7 inch figure did her right.

I can’t figure out for the life of me why they didn’t scale these to match up with the Classified though, aye yi yi. Scarlett is definitely a top tier character, that hasn’t gotten the complete respect she deserves. A Classified 1982 version along with a 12 inch Figzero Scarlett would make me happy but, I won’t hold my breath. Who had a Scarlett growing up? What is your favorite version?
